Central London is the hardest place in the country to park a removal vehicle, and that single fact governs everything about a move here.
The housing is a mix of Georgian terraces around Bloomsbury and Marylebone, mansion blocks in Westminster and Pimlico, warehouse and office conversions in Clerkenwell and the City fringe, and a growing number of high-specification new developments.
The buildings vary. The constraint does not.
Red routes, charges and loading windows
Red routes carry an absolute prohibition on stopping during controlled hours. On many central streets there is no legal kerbside loading at all during the working day, which means an early start, a side-street standing point with a carry, or a formal dispensation.
The Congestion Charge and ULEZ both apply. We are clear about which charges a move will attract before you book, and they appear on the quote rather than as a surprise afterwards.
Loading bays in the West End and the City are shared with deliveries and have strict time limits enforced by camera. A removal that overruns its window generates penalties, so the schedule is built around the limit rather than hoping.
Many central residential buildings restrict move-in and move-out hours entirely, and some prohibit weekends. The building’s rules and the street’s rules have to line up, and occasionally they barely do.
